My then-fiancé threw me a surprise 30th birthday party and invited all my friends and family members to a Mexican restaurant. I thought he was just taking me to lunch. Imagine my surprise when we walked in and all these people were there! We all proceeded to eat, drink and be merry. He got up and thanked everyone for coming and making my birthday so special, then he got down on one knee and presented me with my engagement ring and asked me to marry him! I was completely shocked!
We had talked extensively about getting married, so I wasn't surprised by the proposal, but I certainly wasn't expecting it at that particular time. It was very romantic and special and after four years together, we are still very happy.

My fiancé surprised me at lunch! He had been talking about going out to a really fancy restaurant that night for dinner, so I thought that he would do it then. On his way to work, he passes by mine, so that day he asked if we could have lunch together. He had me pick the place. I picked a random Asian restaurant where we had never been.
I left my seat to order the food, and when I came back, the ring box was sitting in front of my seat. I was shocked! It was a nice surprise though. He knew that I did not care about anything, and that I just wanted to be surprised, so his friends told him that I wouldn't expect it during a work lunch. They were right!

My best friend's girlfriend never thought that he would ever propose to her. It had really not been anything that had been on his mind. We are both paramedics and he had not given it much thought until one day.
The next day we went to the mall and decided to "look" at the rings. Well, we went to 8-10 different stores that day and he had found nothing. We continued the search for about another three weeks and he finally had found the one ring that was perfect. It was everything that she liked.
So his family came out there to look at it and he eventually ended up getting that ring. Her birthday fell on a weekday so her parents decided to celebrate this "birthday" party the following weekend. Little did she know it was a little more than that. My video camera was the only one that even worked that night so I was recording and the last gift she was to sit in a chair and close her eyes and listen to the song. The song was "I Can Love You Like That" by John Michael Montgomery.
When the song says "Baby open up your eyes" then she did and he was on one knee with the ring and he slipped it on her finger and finished singing the song to her and asked her to marry him. Everyone in the room had tears in their eyes. She said "YES" very enthusiastically. They are still together and their wedding is planned for June 30, 2001.

My fiancé proposed to me on the radio. He arranged an interview on the radio for me and him and while I was on the phone in another country (Canada) and he was here (Pennsylvania), we went through the entire interview...on Valentine's Day '96...and at the end of the interview, he said, "Will you marry me, I want to spend forever with you". I said "Um, oh my god, yes, yes, yes..." He even videotaped it for me since I wasn't in the room.
He is the best. He sent me flowers the next day.

My husband proposed to me on Christmas Eve of 1998. We were at my parents house and it's tradition in my family that we always open one or two gifts on Christmas Eve. Usually it's pajamas, slippers or something to that effect. Well as my faience and my father were pulling out gifts, he was already on one knee. It didn't dawn on me because we were putting off getting engaged until after he was out of school (which he had another year). But little did I know that the night before he went out with my dad and brother and asked for my dad's blessing for us to marry. My dad of course gave it.
So when they were on their knees Christmas eve, everyone but me knew what he was going to do. He pulled out a pretty big wrapped box. He said, "Kimberly I want to love you forever - will you marry me?" I was flabbergasted, because the box was so big I thought he was joking. So I unwrapped and unwrapped and unwrapped to find the small black box with the most beautiful diamond ring inside. I will still shocked and kept saying "now? now?" He thought I was saying no and my family was staring. . .So of course I screamed "yes of course!"
I started cry and my mother started crying. I kissed him and hugged my family. It was the best Christmas ever. We called his family the next day (but of course they already knew as well!). We chose the 16th of September, 2000 to get married because it would have been exactly 4 years from when we first met and fell in love. (We met over the Internet so that's when he had come out to see me and we knew we would always be together.) It's all "Happily Ever After" from here.
Hopefully the next surprise will be on him when I tell him there's a baby on the way!! =)

On Sadie Hawkins Day, 2/29/96, I asked my boyfriend on a date in celebration of the "Ladies" day. I made reservations at a special restaurant and had our favorite bottle of wine. We are both avid readers and I gave him several gifts throughout the meal of a special book that had some meaning to it for us.
Although he had a hot tub in his home, he had never been in a hot tub outside, especially in the middle of a Michigan winter. So, I also made reservations at a local, very nice hot tub gardens. I had made arrangements with the owner earlier and had the room set up with a bouquet of flowers that were delivered prior to our appointment. The "room" we had had a Mexican motif so I brought those little Mexican candles, and some plastic glasses to go with it. I had to sneak in the wine because that was not "allowed".
I fed him Godiva chocolate covered cherries. I had made a tape just for the event of all classical music that we liked (in fact we eventually used Pachelbel Canon in our wedding) with the last song being "Could I Have This Dance (For the Rest Of My Life)" by Anne Murray. That was my cue to give him his last gift book a journal and I wrote on the first page "Will you marry me and be my happily ever after?"
His answer, with tears in his eyes, was yes :) He couldn't believe all the elaborate attention to detail that I had made throughout the evening to make it special for him.

On one of my visits to where he lives, we made dinner together, and were watching the Olympics. He was sick, so we had not eaten out. We were just watching the Olympics. He left the room, and came back with a box on one knee. He went through a very sweet speech, and ended with "I want to spend the rest of my life with you, will you marry me?"

On our 7th anniversary, my boyfriend had planned a romantic night out. I had always wanted to go to a mystery dinner theater, so he made all the arrangements. The dinner and show were wonderful. We were seated with fun people and we really enjoyed ourselves.
In the middle of the show, before dessert, they announced birthdays and anniversaries. We were a dating anniversary so it didn't surprise me when they pulled us on stage. One of the actors asked my boyfriend, when he was going to make an honest woman of me. To my wonderful surprise, he turned towards me got down on his knee and said "Well, I guess right now", pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him. I absolutely answered yes and the entire audience went crazy.
After the show, all the actors and everyone stopped by to wish us the best. It was the best night of our lives! We are getting married February 23, 2002, our 8th anniversary.
