I moved from Elk Grove to Marysville to go to school, and hours distance driving. Nick and I had been talking on the phone when he told me that he would drive and hour just to see me for five minutes. I thought he was kidding but he was determined to prove it to me.

After we got off the phone he got into a truck with his friend and they started driving to Marysville. About 45 minutes after we got off the phone he called me and told me that he had been in a car accident on his way to come see me. I went and picked him up and he spent the night at my place. That was the night that I knew he was definitely the one for me.

Two weeks later I went to Elk Grove for spring break. We had been taking 5-mile nightly walks and on one of the walks he swung me around so that our chests were touching, he looked at with his bright blue eyes starting to water and then he told me that he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. Both of us had tears running down our faces as I said yes.

We stood there on the side walk for what seemed forever just holding each other. He is moving up to Marysville so I can finish school.

My engagement was very unique. The whole story can be summed up in an e-mail written to my faience Robert from his friend Todd explaining the whole "scam."All his friends were in on it. It's a pretty complicated little ordeal. But, this explains everything pretty well:

E-MAIL
We're planning to set Angela up. Angela has applied for a position in the entertainment industry as a writer with a guy in LA. On Friday, I'm going to call and tell her that he referred her to me. I'm going to say I'm putting together a new reality dating show and I need her help. I had a person who was to try out our dating concepts and scope out Napa, Sonoma, and Marin this weekend. That person bailed at the last minute and I need someone to do it and write a 3-5 page summary of our concept with recommendations for an investor presentation on Monday.

I'm going to offer her $1,000 and ask if she has a friend or boyfriend she can enlist to really test the concept. Naturally, Robert will be by her side when I call. Assuming she agrees, then she and Robert will meet a stranger at a Starbucks. The stranger will have her sign a contract. Then he'll give her some instructions, a package of dating questions (3 sets for 3 locations), and a mystery box (with instructions not to open until location 3). She is to find one location in Napa for a lunch spot, an activity in Napa or Sonoma (preferably a wine tasting spot), and a beach location in Marin (Robert will try to influence her to Pt. Reyes). At the first spot they'll go through 3-5 questions each, then the same at the second spot. The third spot they'll open the mystery box. It will contain a MP3 player w/small speakers, a MP3 CD, some more questions, and a beach blanket. The instructions will tell them to play the MP3 player and go through the questions. When "their" song comes on the MP3, that's when he'll pop the question. The whole saga is a hoax to get her on the beach in a spot they went to before, secluded, romantic, and engaged!

That's how it happened...exactly as planned.

Scott and I first met almost 4 years ago when I was out with some friends at a local bar. My best friend from high school worked at the same place Scott did and introduced me to both him and his friends. We danced together that night for the first time, but after he used a very "unique" pickup line I just wasn't sure he was the guy for me--after all relationships with bar beginnings rarely work out. Needless to say, one year later my curiosity was piqued so I had my friend see if Scott was still available. He was and she passed along my number to him. Here we are 2-1/2 years later and there has barely been a day we haven't talked either in person or on the phone.

Scott and I have talked about the idea of getting married for a little while now and I had the idea that maybe sometime soon he might be popping the question. I thought it might be on our upcoming trip to Cancun, but he had me fooled. Yesterday (June 1st, 2003) he asked me to go on a bike ride with him that leads through a local park.

There was a car show going on and so we stopped to looking at all of the wonderful classic Chevy's in the lot before continuing on with our ride. Little did I know that earlier that morning he had been out setting up a romantic surprise for me instead of buying spark plugs like it said in the note I found when I woke up alone.

After leaving the car show he wanted to ride up this fairly steep grass hill. I didn't want to at first, but he convinced me. Next he wanted me to go over to the trees where he was riding. I thought he wanted to ride down into them and I was going to have no part of that. Finally, he got me to go over to the trees and there on the ground was a string with a card attached. I got off the bike and followed the string as the card directed-not really knowing what was going on. The more I followed the string and hiked through those woods the more cards I had to read. Each card talked about how we would be traveling through life together, step-by-step and that this is where our lives would merge.

When I got to the last card there was Scott holding a hard-shaped concrete stepping stone that he had made the day before. On it was the date and his proposal. He took my picture as I read it then came over with the ring, got down on one knee and popped the question. I said yes of course and we celebrated with the champagne he had hidden in the bushes earlier. We called our parents then buried our stepping stone by the tree where he asked me so we could visit our special place and take our loved ones there for years to come.

What a beautiful way to begin, what are sure to be, the happiest years of our lives!

Todd and I met on line, we currently live 1000 miles away from each other, so each time we see each other it is full of romance and excitement. We have been together for over a year now, and we see each other averaging on once every 3 weeks for about a week or so, which forces us to spend countless hours on the phone. Need less to say we have conquered the communication department, there is nothing we haven't said to each other

When it came time for the big day, I was visiting in Todd's city. He took me to a restaurant that we had been to before, and I thought for sure he was going to propose there. We finished dinner, declined desert, so we could get home. heh heh, When we arrived at Todd's home I went down to our bedroom to get changed in to something more comfortable. I think I actually lost my breath, as I stood looking in to our bed room that was filled with 9 vases of my favorite colored roses, rose petals on the bed, a bucket 2 glasses and champagne on the bed 43 (I counted) candles lit all different sizes, and shapes and a fir going in our fireplace. When I hugged him I wasn't sure who's heart was beating faster, his or mine, I couldn't tell through our shirts. Todd then went on to tell me how much he loved me and slowly dropped to one knee and proposed.

It was almost unreal, I think I actually had an out of body experience, as I was so shocked.

My girlfriend (now fiancé) Heather and I have been dating for about 2 years and 8 months and on Feb. 28th 2003 is when I proposed to her and here is the story.

On Feb 28th I took the day off work and prayed that this night went perfect. I had been planning and arranging this night for over a month. My girlfriend goes to school at Rose Hulman in Terre Haute, Indiana and she is in a sorority there. Her sorority was having a conclave in Cincinnati, Ohio starting on her birthday, Feb. 28th. I had called Heather's sorority president about a month in advance to see if I could get her out of her meetings on the night of her birthday. Her sorority president was able to get here out and she also had told Heather that she had to dress up in black dresses for that Friday night's meetings.

Heather and here sorority sisters showed up at about 6:00 at their hotel. At 6:45 pm I had the front desk call call Heather and say that she had someone waiting for her, which she told me later she though was odd but did not think much about it. So her and her sorority members went down to the lobby and as she turned the corner she saw me standing there with a rose in a suit and tie. She was shocked to see me and said "what are you doing here!!" "I told her I am here to take you out to dinner for your birthday."

Her sorority sisters took her meeting stuff and we left the hotel. I took her to La Maisonette restaurant and had a great dinner. After dinner I had arranged for a horse drawn carriage to pick us up outside the restaurant. Luckily it was a warm night for February—41 degrees. We rode through downtown Cincinnati for a while and then took a bridge across the Ohio river into Covington, KY. We road through some older historic houses and then came to a walk beside the Ohio river with Cincinnati in horizon on the other side of the river, it was beautiful.

The lady driving the horse drawn carriage stopped to let us walk for a minute (I had it already pre-planned out with her). We walked down this walk and talked till we came to a turn in the path and a small tree. There I stopped told her I really really loved her and wanted her in my life forever, got on one knee and asked her to marry me. She was so shocked and so happy all at once. She said Yes, I put the ring on her hand and she cried and hugged me. The ring sparkled on her hand, even in the dead of night. It was perfect!

We then walked back, got in the carriage and went back to the restaurant. We called everyone we could. It was a great night!
