We were at my Christmas party for work, staying at the hotel it was hosted at. (I did not know he had already purchased my ring while we were on a trip to visit my family one month before.) My fiancé asked the manager of the hotel for some help in taking a centerpiece from the table to decorate the room with. The manager was excited and asked what else he can do for us. He gave him a set of crystal glasses and a free bottle of champagne to take to our room.

At the end of the night, we were back in our room changing for bed, when he told me to come check out our view (of the parking structure across the way!) on the balcony. When I went out there, he had set up a table with candles and the glasses, and champagne, and a box in the middle. I had no clue, because I didn't know he had already bought the ring.

So, I opened the box, looked inside the box inside there and couldn't believe my eyes. I turned around, and he was on one knee asking me to be his wife. It was beautiful...of course I said "yes", then went to all the rooms of my friends and shared the champagne! It was great!!

One month later, we won a free nights stay at the same hotel through a bridal faire and he requested the same room. Unfortunately, it was occupied, so they put us on the top floor at the end, so we wouldn't be interrupted by the teens that were there. When we got there, there was a note from the manager wishing us a nice night's stay, and chocolate covered strawberries!

I LOVE BEING ENGAGED!!!! :)

We were in the Bahamas with my family. I normally like to go to town and shop for jewelry. I had decided I would just relax and not spend any money this time.

My fiancé had been insisting we go to town, he needs a watch. I got up one morning and threw on my suit to go to the beach with my sister. He said he wanted to go look for watches and I had to go. Reluctantly, I went. We went to some shops and I tried on a few rings. I thought he was just getting me to try on a few.

We had been dating 5 years at the time. No big deal, RIGHT? Anyway, he starts bargaining with the jeweler on one ring we both liked and he turns to me and says, "I guess you'll have to marry me them won't you?" I casually responded, "Whatever", and walked away. Little did I know he was serious.

When I realized he was it was all I could do to not to make a scene. We went back to the hotel to share with my family and they all cried with us.

Marriage was always a touchy subject in our relationship. Whenever I would bring it up, Dan would always get defensive and tell me to drop it. I thought it was because he wasn't ready to get married, but he assured me that that wasn't the case. He would always tell me the same thing, that he's just old fashion and believes that a proposal is supposed to be a surprise. If I even started talking about getting married, he would tell me to drop it. He would have me in tears, making me think that I needed to realize that it will happen when it happens, and talking about it only makes him less anxious to get married. Little did I know that during most of these tearful arguments he was planning the whole thing out. The arguments were simply his way off making sure I wasn't expecting it. He always told me that if and when it happened I would have no idea.

The day it happened - his 24th birthday. For weeks he was asking me to have a party for his birthday. I thought it was odd that a grown man wanted a birthday party, but I told him that if he really wanted to have a party we could do it the weekend after his birthday. Nope, he wanted the party ON his birthday which fell on a Tuesday. I tried explaining to him that people have to work during the week, and that people would be more likely to come if it was on a Saturday. But he wouldn't listen, so I began organizing his birthday party for that Tuesday. I was surprised at how many people were willing to come on a week night, but I didn't think anything odd of it. But what I didn't know was that he had already called all our family and friends and organized this party way before he mentioned the idea to me.

We had just got done watching Dan open his presents, when his best friend came in with a big box that was beautifully wrapped and gave it to him. I thought it was weird that a guy would get a guy a present and wrap it so nicely, but hey, you never know. Dan looked at me and said, "now, since it's my birthday you can't get mad at me, but I bought myself a present." That was such a him thing to do, buy himself a present, and he knew I would be pissed at him for doing it. And as he was opening the box, I look at my best friend, rolled my eyes, and gave her a glare as if to say, "I can't believe he bought himself something." Right as I turned my head back to finish watching him open the present, he got down on one knee and pulled out a ring. It took a minute to realize what was going on, but the second he said, "Mishay, will you marry me?" I began to cry.

I had no idea, it was all totally unexpected. And all I could think about was all the times he had told me, "I want to do it when you are least expecting it." Well, he definitely succeed.

Jon and I had been dating for almost a year. We talked about marriage a lot and knew from the beginning that we were soul mates.

The weekend of our anniversary (Nov. 19, 2000), Jon booked us the best room at a beautiful B&B called The Moorings in St. Michael's, eastern shore of MD. Before we arrived, he had flowers placed in the room, wine, and bubbles for the Jacuzzi. I was so excited when we got there, just to be away. The owner of the B&B made us hot chocolate and cookies for when we got back from observing the waterfront and sunset. We ate the cookies and then decided to get warmed up in the Jacuzzi.

We snuggled and Jon expressed in love for me. At the end of his speech, he asked me to be his wife. Of course I said "I DO"! The story didn't end there.

Since we had talked about marriage I knew that I wanted him to have some to remember the engagement, too. Since his dad works for a jeweler, I asked him to help me buy a very nice Omega watch. So when Jon presented me with the beautiful ring, I gave him a box with his watch. It was even more touching because the center stone is an heirloom that his great grandfather had bought. It had been passed down to him. His mother and his brother also have the exact same stone. The six-sided stones and mounting Jon picked out himself. It was truly a beautiful and magically moment.

I thank God for allowing us to be together.

In December, my sweetie told me "You must get February 1st off. I want to take you away for the weekend!" This was not unusual because we go away a lot.

We went to our favorite little resort in NH, Nordic Village. It was a scary ride up but we made in time for our reservations at a romantic little restaurant we have gone to a few times.

In the car on the way to the restaurant, our song, "I Cross My Heart" came on the radio and he said "This is perfect!" I already ruled out an engagement because he kept saying how he "needed to get the money together" for a ring, etc.

We enjoyed our dinner and changed into our pajamas once we got back to the condo. I was sitting on the loveseat and he came in and serenaded me with a song that was playing on TV at the moment and told me he loved me. I said "I love you too and can't wait to be married to you someday" then he said "Well it's funny you should say that.." pulled out a rig box, and continued "Because I was wondering if you'd be my wife?" I smiled, opened the box and saw my beautiful marquis solitaire and said "Yes!" I put it on, kept saying "I Can't believe it!" and hugged my beloved. He went on to say "I"m marrying my best friend...I can't think of anything better!" It was a wonderful night for both of us!
